The holiday calendar in Turkey differs in many ways from the calendar
post of the Soviet space.
The longest holidays, of course, are Ramazan Bayram.
(Sheker Bairam) and Kurban Bairam, these are religious parties who
are of a transient nature. Every year this holiday is shifted by
10 days ahead. This is determined by the fact that the Islamic calendar
obeys the lunar cycles.
On the public holiday Ramadan Bayram in Turkey, it is customary to go to
guests to relatives, be sure to visit Parents and distribute
children sweet gifts and pocket money. Everybody tries to buy
new clothes for yourself and your children and look your best in anticipation
this razdnik.
A month after this holiday, Kurban Bayram follows. On this day
wealthy families sacrifice a lamb or a cow and distribute
meat to poor families, thereby helping others.
February 14 Valentine's Day is not considered a public holiday.
but nevertheless it has become more and more popular recently.
March 8 is also considered a working day. On this day,
demonstrations and rallies encouraging men to respect women's rights and
avoid domestic violence
April 23 is a public holiday for the protection of children and youth. Educational
organizations prepare concerts for students on this day. Compulsory
the opening of the holiday is the Turkish anthem and the Schoolchildren's parade. Children
dress in red white clothing colors - these are the national colors
Turkish Republic, the parade is accompanied by patriotic songs,
poetry and theatrical performances. Children love this holiday very much,
as they are exempted from lessons on this day and try to pamper
pizza, ice cream, or a toy.
July 15, Day of Democracy and National Unity in Turkey, is
day off.
November 10 is the founding day of the Turkish republic.
December 31 New Year. This holiday has recently acquired
popularity of communication with a large number of tourists coming to
rest on these holidays, and in connection with the large number
immigrants for whom this holiday is the most important of the year.
January 1 is a non-working day
