When tourists first hear about women-only beaches in Turkey, they usually have one of two reactions:
- “Do places like that still exist?”
- “Where are they, and how can I get there?”
In reality, women-only beaches in Turkey are neither an exotic curiosity nor a tourist attraction. They were created to give women who follow more conservative traditions a place where they can relax, swim, and sunbathe in an environment where they feel comfortable.
On the Mediterranean coast, the best-known example is Sarısu Women’s Beach in Antalya.
It is located in the Konyaaltı district, near the entrance to the city from the Kemer direction.
What makes this beach unique?
✔ Only women are allowed to enter the beach area.
✔ The staff is made up entirely of women.
✔ Photography and video recording are prohibited.
✔ There are showers, changing cabins, and a café.
✔ The beach is open to all women, not just hotel guests.
For many visitors, it offers the chance to enjoy a peaceful day by the sea without unwanted attention or curious onlookers.
In Alanya itself, there are no municipal women-only beaches.
However, several hotels offer private beaches and swimming pools reserved exclusively for women.
Among the most well known are:
- Adenya Hotel Resort
- Adin Beach Hotel
- Selge Beach Resort
These facilities are typically available only to hotel guests. The areas are shielded from outside view, and the amenities can be used exclusively by women.
Why are these beaches still popular?
Many foreigners are surprised by their popularity.
But Turkey is a very diverse country.
People here have very different views on recreation, clothing, and personal space. Some prefer lively beaches with music and water sports, while others value peace, privacy, and the opportunity to relax in the company of other women.
That’s why women-only beaches are not an alternative to regular beaches—they simply provide people with an additional choice.
