In the very heart of Turkey, there is a cottage village with unfinished Disney-style villas.
In the Bolu province, the northwestern part of Turkey has an unrealistic natural beauty, there are many rivers, forests, lakes, mountains, and thanks to the mild climate, walks turn into sheer pleasure.
Bolu is famous for its thermal springs, delicious food, there is even an opinion that the best chefs are from the Bolu province.
At a distance of 55 km from Bolu is the city of Mudurnu, with an old and interesting history, ancient Hittites and Phrygians lived here. There is a version that with the arrival of the Seljuks here, the core of the future Ottoman Empire began to form. This ancient city is included in the UNESCO list of historical heritage.
And here's an interesting fact, it was in this place that the construction of one of the largest and most disastrous projects in the modern history of Turkey began.
Several hundred (!) Villas of the same type were built here, which remind us of Disney cartoons. Pointed roofs are reminiscent of the Renaissance, however, this is where the fabulousness ends.
The construction project started in 2011, according to the plan, 732 villas, a hotel, 2 business centers, and a large shopping center were to be built. The project was financed by means of entrepreneurs from Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, UAE, Saudi Arabia. During the construction phase, 350 villas were sold. The price for one villa in 2014 ranged from $ 400,000. The reason for the freezing of the project was the financial crisis of 2014, as a result of which the financing of the project was terminated.
